Cooling talk
Ok most of you know I had the 6.0 installed over a year ago and it's working just fine. I have had some radiator leaks of late and ordered me a new 3 row CHR radiator off E-bay with trans cooler.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/281405991455...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT I will be swapping my electric fans over to the new unit and will be wiring up the new fans with a product I have used on many of golf carts to activate them. This is a simailer product but only 12 volts instead of 36,48 are 72 volts as in my carts. This will be a 12 volt coil with a 200 amp draw for the fans to run off of. I'll have the relays in the system also. It's not much bigger than a stock one but way more powerful. If you interested in this product I posted the link to order them. Oh they can be used as a starter solenoid as well if you have that kind of problem to! http://www.cloudelectric.com/product...j-12v-200a.htm

Re: Cooling talk
Andy, its a cool looking product, but I'm not exactly sure how your using them. Are you just using this in place of the 1 or 2 fan relays? I recall using something similar for running air compressors. Does it just wire DPDT?

The 2 small terminals are the activation side of it which is 12 volts to close the coil. You want need the 40amp relays anymore because the activation is good to 200amps to close the coil. This will be more than enough to run those big fans some of us are using. There is also a 100amp which would work for most of us. The 2 large terminals will be from the truck battery to the contactor then to the fans. This will supply the fans power with 12 volts. With heavy gauge wire and lugs they should run cooler and last longer I would think and you don't have to worry about all the heat build up on the relays.

Re: Cooling talk
Andy,
Would this make it so the fans don't drop my volts when they turn on? My volts seem to drop a lot when the fans come on and running my AC.

Re: Cooling talk
I am also familiar with the HD cart relay. They are massive.
That is a NICE radiator. 100% welded and brazed, no epoxy, no plastic. We need some pics of that bad boy installed! CT |

The one I posted isn't much bigger than a standard solenoid but can take a lot of amps. Houston Ben, I'm not sure of that but will let you know once I do mine. The problem I see with the relays is they are max'ed out on the amps they can handle when you flip the switch on. The inrush of the amps, with these solenoids there want be any of that. The 12volt coil is seperate from the power side of this setup and the cable runs straight through to the fan. I think it will run cooler (Wiring wise) than with the relay's.

Re: Cooling talk
Yea that's got to be a mistake. He must have gone into his add and hit the wrong key.
A little more info on these contactors. I have been reading and doing some checking. The coils will operate at 12 volts with about a 2-3 amp draw to close are open the contact. The contactor will handle 100-200 amps which ever one you buy. This should let the fans run better.

Re: Cooling talk
The new $157.00 radiator showed up today! I wasn't expecting it until Monday! It looks killer. Tomorrow I will flush it out good and start draining the old one and get this one polished up before installing it.
