Radiator support
Anyone have a good picture or diagram of how
the radiator support grommets fit to the frame?

Re: Radiator support
Depends on the year of your truck, this is a 69-72 version.
(Don't mind the rust and cobwebs...) Rg

Re: Radiator support
the 67-68 is basically the same except that the rubbers are more like hockey puck shaped

Re: Radiator support
Thanks... exactly what I needed. I saw the LMC diagram,
it has all the parts, but it doesn't show how they assemble together.

Re: Radiator support
I'll add this, there's a LOT of confusion about which grommets to use when swapping things around. Well, I just mounted a 68 chevy support and 68 chevy grill on my 70 jimmy and I used the 69-72 grommets. They looked like what came off of the jimmy so it's what I ordered.
Some people will say to use the grommets that match the core support, but I feel you need to use what matches the year frame you have. At the very least, that is what worked for me. Good luck, Roger

Re: Radiator support
I have this job coming up. Don't forget about the square washer that goes on top of the radiator core support. Your carriage bolt fits through it.
I think I have a pic on photobucket....I will look for it. I guess I don't have that on photobucket. This one looks better though. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/a...1&d=1198315001 Last edited by In The Ten Ring; 09-23-2015 at 03:46 PM. |

Re: Radiator support
He's right, the square washer goes on top of the core support.
Here's my old bolt and washer. Rg

Re: Radiator support
My square nuts were crap! Passenger side it was rust-welded to the carriage bolt head and I had to grind the bolt head down to the washer to get it off.

Re: Radiator support
You got that right! They were a bear to get off, I had to hacksaw the one on the passengers side off after tearing away the old mount.

I should dump the outer fender on that side also but the rear of it could still be a patch panel for someone. |
