First trip to the junk yard...
Took my first trip to the junk yard yesterday and think i did pretty well. For some reason or another I've never crawled through there but i deffiently will go back and look around. Its pretty addicting. I found a electric fan from a 2000 jeep grand cherokee and also picked up a set of door seals (weather striping) from a Dodge Dakota. Put the seals on today and man they fit great, you guys aren't lying on that.
Ive got to replace the water pump on my old truck and figured it would be a great time to try the electric fan upgrade. Got the fan placed into the factory fan shroud, perfect fit. All i'm waiting for now is my electrical harness from jets and i'll be good to go. Thanks for all the help, tips, and tricks on here. This forum is awesome.

Those Dakota seals work pretty slick don't they? Clip right on, and the key I think is the fact they are at least 20 years old and nicely broken in.

Re: First trip to the junk yard...
Dakota door seals on our trucks? Really? Never heard this. What else should I look for?

Re: First trip to the junk yard...
The Dakota door seals you want are pre 97 or 98 body style. When they still had the square body. The ones I got were off of a 89 I believe. And they work great.

Buy a pair of '86-'96 Dodge Dakota pickup door weatherstrips, push them on, cut three inches off of the end and you are done. No glue, no mess, no fuss. If you look you can find some nice ones for under 10 bucks.... Take a Phillips screwdriver, small hammer and a small pry bar with you to get them off. Oh and don't lose the rubber inserts where the ends of the seal fit together. LockDoc

Re: First trip to the junk yard...
Somebody make a thread please on parts that fit off other cars. I know Chevy van marker lights work but I'm sure there is so much I don't even know to look for. I would have never thought of walking down the Chrysler/dodge isle at the wrecking yards
