Anyone know if the Altman bear claw set sold by trique mfg is the large size or the small latch version?http://www.triquemfg.com/altman-easy...1-chevy-truck/

Re: Altman Bear Claw Latch size

It's comparable to a "small" universal latch.

Is there really three times the quality and longevity between Altman and their competitors based on price. Our vehicles are not taxi cabs. Does the fairly light use justify the price difference. Anyone see any real safety concerns?

Altmans site says you cant lock the truck from the inside with their latch, i made a slot where it connects on the lock, and i can lock mine..

You're not paying more for the latch, so much as you are paying them to do the R&D on making it work with your stock handles, with a bolt on panel for your jambs. The latch itself is only one small piece of the puzzle.

I agree with this^^^

They're pricey but I ordered them because I'm old enough to remember older car doors coming open on turns somewhat routinely. Never a tragedy in my experience but I'm sure there must have been some.

Need pictures of this!

I haven't installed mine yet but my doors are in the body shop and I need to get down there to trace the template on the door for the body man to cut.

OOPS! HADNT clicked on the link. I see the pictures now, thanks!

I see the pics, but don't know enough about the Altman stuff to figure out what they mean. In post #44 I see pics of the latch, but don't see anything that looks like a gizmo to lock from the inside.

Re: Altman Bear Claw Latch size

Board member Clay sent me the link to these that are made in USA. Reasonable price also.
The small and large are the same price. Will the large models fit with the single piece windows?

One downside that I see is that the striker bolt nut is welded solid- so there is no adjustment there. Id rather gave a caged nut as in the other kits

Post 56 page 3
Uses the door handle to lock.

Been there, done that. When I was about 5 or 6 we had an old 50 something dodge 2 door wagon. I was playing in the back seat when my Mom went around a corner to the left and, there I was....gone. Fell out the front door into the ditch. Was always a running joke in the family how I managed to fall out the front door from the back seat. Of course, it only HAD front doors.
