Newbie UK owner
Hi guys, looking for a little help.
This is my first "proper" American Truck. 1964 C20 LWB Pickup. Im trying to find out more about it, and I need some help. The previous owner told me it was a 350 but I found the original advert in the US (before importing to the previous owner in the UK) and that advert said it was a 327. How do I tell the difference? This is a link to the original advert I found for it in the states: http://www.autobia.com/car-detail/c-...537894481.html It has had the box changed to a two speed auto - which, to be fair runs well. Does anyone know a good scrap yard, or contact to buy parts from in the states ? A lot of them charge ridiculous shipping, and I just want to not be ripped off. I love the truck, but she needs a few bits - there is no hand brake at all (E brake), no choke that I can find, the fuel filler neck has perished (I have sorted this temporarily) and the wiring for the lights is all effed up. (No rear lights, and high beam on with one indicator etc) I wouldnt mind knowing if there is a pdf shop manual floating about ? Any help gratefully appreciated - I love this truck Mike

Re: Newbie UK owner
Welcome to the forum. Best thing to do is become a supporting member and post wanted ads in the 60 to 66 parts section. The members here have about every thing under the sun for parts. For the wiring you can go two ways. One is to source a good used harness form here or go the replacement harness route. For that about everyone will agree American Auto Wire is very good kit. For your engine question there is a set of numbers on the pad in front of the passenger side cylinder head and those should tell the tale. Post them up and we can decode them.

Brighton.........
Guess where I worked yesterday? Welcome to what will be the best resource for these C10 trucks you will find on the web. Here are also a few guys on Rods n Sods with them. Look here: http://www.rodsnsods.co.uk/forum/cha...ight=Chevy+c10 So they are growing in popularity, which means networks are developing. One guy you can try is Steve Lang of Langeys Rod Shop here in England. He will import for you on a direct Pound for Dollar rate, which includes the VAT and import taxes.

I hope you got he girl in the deal, then you did real well, unless someone knew something about her that you did not. Trust you will have much fun with her. Are you keeping the canopy top?

yea that's the truck. No girl or canopy top though.
Thanks for the tip about wiring looms too. I'm just about to get her on the ramps (the truck not the girl) and see if there is anything nasty. I have no handbrake at all at the moment, not even a handle in the cab. That's got to be sorted Asap. And are the brakes meant to be this bad? I have got used to it now but my thigh has its own postcode now I can't believe how many people take pics of the truck. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Newbie UK owner
Mechanic thinks she is a beaut. One small issue - they swapped the 4 on the floor for an auto, and never put a handbrake in - so I am going to have to try and find some info on that.
All solid though - good basis I think woohoo

Re: Newbie UK owner
Does anyone know who to contact about getting this thread moved to "builds" section and changing the title for me if possible ?
I may as well go down that route. Or shall I start a new one
