85' suburban 10 bolt axle length?
Hi all,
Still having problems with a shimmy/wobble in my truck and am leaning towards the rear axle shaft(s) being bad. I want to replace with Moser axle shafts but want to make sure the length is correct. I was told my 10 bolt rear end is out of a 1985 Suburban but I don't know if 4x4 or not. My glove box is also out of that 85 Sub and it has the OG sticker on it with vin which when looked up states it is a 2wd so I am leaning that way. Moser's axle shafts are 31 3/8 long but I want to make sure this is what I need. Is there any way to measure the rear end to see what I need so I don't have to take the axle out and measure? Thanks Ben

Re: 85' suburban 10 bolt axle length?
If its 5 lug then its 2wd. I dont know the correct length off hand but if you try rock auto or summit and look up a oem axle shaft they usually give the length.
Also, Yukon makes a great non tappered axle that is probably as strong at the mosier and probably a little cheaper. I used them along with the Yukon posi in my old chevelle 12 bolt and it handled my 427bbc just fine. I got my stuff from www.quickperformance.com

Re: 85' suburban 10 bolt axle length?
Thanks for the reply 68,
I did look on RA and they had 2 lenghts, 31 1/2 and 31 5/16 and moser is 31 3/8 and Yukon is 31 5/16. Why so many different lengths? Also, the yukon are about $30 more.

I`m suprised Yukon`s are more. I paid $260 shipped for my Yukon axles for my old chevelle. Figured the truck axles would be close in a stock type c-clip axle. Non c-clip performance axles will be more expensive for sure.
