kyb or catalog drop shocks?

Hey everyone just looking to order some shocks for my truck and am wondering what to order. I have found part numbers for kyb shocks but they seem almost too cheap at half the price of any of the drop shocks in the lmc/brothers catalogs. I was originally thinking mcgauphys as I had them on my 71 and they rode very well, but now i see how cheap kyb is. I just dont want to go cheap and regret it. Should i go kyb or a certain brand of drop shock. I want a good ride. The truck is a 69 shortbed, I already ordered cpp 5 drop coils, porterbuilt c notch. I will have a shock relocation kit and adjustable track bar. Front will be 2.5 drop spindles and 1 or 2 in drop coils. Any info on quality would be appreciated.

Re: kyb or catalog drop shocks?

There are several lowered shock threads in the forum. All list different part numbers use other than all the reboxed aftermarket stuff. I used Monroe Sensa-tracs on mine and they do a great job.

Re: kyb or catalog drop shocks?

I had the cheap KYB's on mine and they were ok but they are jeep and toyota shocks from what I remember. Then I put a good set from Belltech tuned for the truck and they were a huge improvement over the KYB's.

Re: kyb or catalog drop shocks?

Ok i think i see that the big companies probably just mark up the prices on what is equivalent to a drop shock by length. I will probably just order some of the kyb shocks to length from jegs as they are basically half the price of advance auto somehow and the cheapest i see. Im trying to stay decently cheap with parts while still retaining quality parts. I can always upgrade shocks later on when the money is there. Thanks
