Spirit of 76???

Hey guys what's up ! I'm new to this site and I have a question that I would like your opinions on. So I just bought a truck last week not knowing exactly what I was getting or at least suspecting .. I bought a 1976 swb 4x4 with spirit of 76 emblems on door I've been trying to do research but I can't find to much info on it.. I guess my biggest fear is starting to do work on it say lifting and adding other stuff to it that doesn't need be if this thing is really a legit "spirit". Any advice or opinions would greatly be appreciated...

Being that I have been dealing with it myself that front bumper is NOT straight. See if it is the brackets or if there is a frame issue.

Re: Spirit of 76???

here's one I saw/saved awhile back. Was it only available on a Bonanza or any trim level? (This one is a Bonanza)

Since you asked, kinda, if you didn't have your heart set on a lift, I'd make it as stock as possible. Special little k10 shorty. Cool truck, congrats. Now why can't I stumble into something like that!! I'd like to find a gold brick under my seat as well.

If you look on the side of the block from underneath you will be able to see the freeze plugs most 400s have 3 per side or a raised area were the third would be also the block has raised sides were the cylinders are located while a 350 is smooth other that freeze plugs and mounts

Funny that you posted that truck. I have seen in it person. It is amazingly clean. I think they wanted $17000 for it though

Re: Spirit of 76???

Yea I was thinking the same but the whole reason I bought the truck was to lift it and play in the mud but I don't wanna do that if this truck is as rare as it seems .

Unless you plan on restoring it to it's former glory, I would do just what you bought it for. If you don't feel right about altering a rare version of these squares, sell it and find one that fits what you what to do.

Re: Spirit of 76???

Funny because I actually live near tonopah ,but I purchased this truck in a little town in Arkansas . And I was thinking someone may have pieced it together ... I've tried running the vin but that didn't work ein it's pre 80's ..

Re: Spirit of 76???

Those door panels look similar to a 76 long-bed out in Tonopah, he advertised it as a spirit of 76 then changed to a 76 long-bed, I wonder if someone parted it out?

Re: Spirit of 76???

And I have thought of just selling it and letting a professional restore it ack to its former glory. But I don't have a clue what a truck like this is worth.
