there is no set height, each person is different. you want to set your height so your line of site is set to the middle of the windshield.

From past experience that style of bucket seat doesn't work well in and AD truck unless you are pretty short legged. I only have a 30 inch inseam and the seat was too far forward to be comfortable when it sets right with the lean back sitting as it is designed to.

You usually want the cushion up about level with that the original cushion was at though or you are sitting too low for the steering wheel if you have a stock column.

Not ad but here is how I set mine, tape line is window sill, I wanted my arm to be comfortable. Note eye line is about center of windshield too. I am short so even stock height always seemed low. Make sure you have the steering column and wheel in place to judge the front to back clearance too. I had 68 Camaro buckets in one of my cars and had the same issue as mr48, pinched my hamstrings. Traded them out for a caddy bench.

I have buckets in my 55 2nd, nearly the same as yours, mine are out of a 66/67 Chevelle. They are comfortable for me, and I am 6'2" and 225lbs. Here's some numbers from my setup. Seat is 12 1/2ins from floor. Seat back is just at rear window bottom (small window). Front of seat is 15ins from brake pedal. Seat back is 13 1/2ins from steering wheel. And steering wheel is 8 1/2ins above seat. Leg room is adequate, altho brake and clutch could be about 1in further away. And my beer gut just clears original steering wheel. A smaller wheel would help, but would make steering harder. If you have power steering, no problemo!

that is relative too, at 6'4'' that would have my butt on the floor
my seat is higher than orrieg's, my line of sight is near the top of the windshield and the back of my head is over the top of the back window
all in a quest to get more legroom

Re: Bucket seat height on 54 ???? thanks

that seat back height is usually why a lot of guys have short back seats, so they can get the seat back far enough so their legs aren't cramped up.
