62 c/10 ball joints

I'm trying to install the upper ball joints in my 62 a arms. I assume the rubber boot that is attached needs to stay attached to the upper part of the ball joint. Problem is it won't slip in the hole far enough, basically to tight. I cleaned all the paint off with a dremel, still to tight. Maybe some grease on the rubber boot? Lacks about 3/4 in sitting all the way down. I just don't want to damage the boot.

I didn't run into that when I did mine. Can you post a picture of it?

Okay just did this last night, take the rubber boot off carefully by prying it off, you may need a knife to separate the lip from the ball joint, then insert the rubber boot first from the top of the ball joint opening in your arm, then insert your ball joint! It will fit without pinching the rubber boot!
