220 gauges or 160 gauges ? Air pressure

I plan to install a manual valve air setup on my c10. I want order air pressure gauges. What size gauges sound I get to monitor the pressure in the bags? 220 or 160 psi ?

I never had more than about 70 pounds in my front bags so I don't see the need for more than 160 for monitoring the bags. Now for tank pressure you may need the 220.

You should never have more than 125 psi in your tanks and I don't think you will ever have more than 90 psi in the bags. 160 is plenty!!

125 psi? there are many 12v compressors that are easily capable of 200 psi.

220 psi single needle gage for the tank / 160 psi dual needle gages for the bags.

Just because it will produce 220 psi doesn't mean you need 220 psi. I drive truck for a living. My truck runs 125psi. No airbag system I know of needs more Than that. Even my commercial compressor stops at 130 psi.

Those are rated at 200 psi / 3.5 CFM and 100% duty cycle @ 100 PSI (50% @ 200 PSI).

I'm using dual 444c's and a 165-200 psi pressure switch and they can fill two 3 gallon tanks tied together from 0 to 200 psi in approx 3 minutes. They will "top off" the tanks from 165 to 200 psi in about a minute and half.

Just wanted to share, although I don't "need" 200 psi.

not to hijack the thread but are you using 1/8 or 1/4 line for the gauges? Is there any pros or cons to either size?

Agreed... the 160 PSI gauges will be good and usually a little easier to read since they havae less tick marks for pressure. We use 160 PSI gauges in our systems and work perfect.

Many run 200 PSI for speed, not for jumping or anything crazy but it takes a lot of air to lift up a rig like my dually and to get it to lift to ride height in less than 5-10 seconds .

It also increases your total tank volume for an increased amount of usage before having your compressors kick in to refill your tank.

You don't see a lot of people running 200 PSI around here because most aren't playing with their switches a lot but some people like to use their systems for more than just laying out while parked or low in the parade procession.

I use mine everytime I drive it (which is everyday) everytime I cross railroad tracks, everytime I go to walmart (speed bumps) That is why we have them right? My York turns off at 145psi and usually run 50-70psi in the bags.

For the sake of contribution to anyone not familiar with air systems and looking to get into that part of the hobby, reading this thread just FYI comparing a york to even a dual Viair setup is silly. My dual Viair 444C specs out at 2.03 CFM at 90 PSI which I rarely drop past being as my pressure switch operates between 110 to 145 I believe. A york would be closer to 10-14 CFM.

I have a york 210 sitting on the shelf because it wouldn't fit under the hood of my toyota easy enough, which has AC and power steering. I am most likely going to run the stock engine mount compressor from the bus cummins engine I have on the dually I am building. There is no replacement for the air displacement/CFM an on-board compressor can give you.

All of this still doesn't replace the fact that someone wanting slightly faster fill times would usually go with 200 PSI and/or 1/2 lines and valves regardless of fill times or CFM.

How long does it take your truck to get from aired out(zero PSI for me as I lay frame and lay out every time I park) to ride height?


Neighbor???? Hell yeah, we need to meet up and chit chat sometime. I haven't met any C10(C20/C30) enthusiasts in person locally yet.
