Additional AC compressor switch
Most modern cars have a switch that makes it possible to turn off the compressor while still running the fan. It's kind of nice to be able to turn off the compressor about a mile from home and allow the fan to continue to blow cold air on you and also dry out the evaporator.
Has anyone added an additional switch? I'm thinking of adding a latching push button switch wire into the existing compressor switch, that way you could still only activate the compressor of the levers were in the correct positions. Something like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/TOYOTA-COROL...=Make%3AToyota |

Re: Additional AC compressor switch
I did this to my 1970 K10. Wanted to the side and top AC vents to blow air even when the AC was not on. I don't have the truck anymore, but I wired a toggle switch into a single wire and mounted it under the dash just out of view.

Re: Additional AC compressor switch
I'm thinking of adding a switch so that my compressor can run during heat and defrost. Very common on modern vehicles.

I have a vague memory of a flowchart of the two paths and the heat and cold are separate, but later mixed in the "Bi Level" setting. But the pure cold out the side vents and pure hot out the defrost are separate I think, from memory.

Re: Additional AC compressor switch
Can't you just turn it on "vent"?
