What do you have left to do to your truck?
I had to stop on the truck. It's been two years and I still don't have it back together. Now I did get pretty far this past summer and fall......I am nearly ready to put to back together. It's just too late in the season to continue.
As far as I can tell, this is what is left before it goes back on the road. 1). Finish cleaning up the outside heater box. (wet sand, clear coat, reassemble). 2). Fix the washer motor/hoses/tips....whatever it is keeping it from working. 3). Get the NOS cowl cleaned, primed and painted. 4). Get the passenger side fender painted. 5). Clear coat the inner grill and reassemble the grill. 6). Reassemble. That means putting all fenders, core support, grill, carburetor, and hood back on. Also, put in the new radiator. 7). Replace all belts and hoses. 8). Fix the stuck parking brake. 9). Start! (Spin oil pump with a drill first). For those of you still in the middle of a "build" what do you have left? I still need the following;
1. Install brake lights & wiring to them. 2. Install sound deaden er & carpet. 3. Paint & install the steps @ bed side. 4. Paint and install the door panels. Oh yeah, tags & insurance. Miscalaneous. Actually not too much left.

Re: What do you have left to do to your truck?
Mainly just blocking/sanding and paint
I still have the door stuff too rebuild wings, latches (again) door panels need paint yet. Do this exhaust. And all the glass pretty much reassemble after paint. The good thing is everything is here too finish it up.except the door latch refinishing I've done them a few times but never came out right I might send them out too be redone. The bad thing is no heat so no body work gotta wait till spring. Oh this oct. Was 3 years it's been in the garage it should be completely done by next oct. That's a year over my plan. Oh well

Re: What do you have left to do to your truck?
I made a list of what I want to do my truck and as you can see there is lots I want to do. My truck runs drives and looks great and I'd have no concerns going on a 500 mile trip with it. As far as what's left to do well as has been stated they are never finished. If I do eventually get the list below completed I'm sure other things will pop up not long after.
Things to be done to Highlander 1. Rear Mount Gas Tank 2. Hidden Hitch 3. Radio Conversion 4. Carb Rebuild 5. Replace Windshield 6. Install 700R4 7. Install Pertronix Distributor 8. Replace Spark Plugs & Wires 9. Replace Ring and Pinion with 3:42's 10. Headlight Wiring Harness 11. Install Tach Dash 12. Install Window Visors 13. Install 7 inch Rims. 2015/10/08 14. Install LED Taillights 15. Install Taillight Mouldings 16. Replace Upper Tailgate Moulding 17. Get Exhaust Redone 2015/07/20 18. Front & Rear Main Seals 19. Valve Cover Gaskets 20. Install Fuel Filter 21. Paint around Headlight Doors 22. Install New Headlights 23. Replace/Replace Vent Window 25. Install 1 1/4 Front Sway Bar 26. Install Rear Hellwig Sway Bar 27. Re: What do you have left to do to your truck?
1) Fix my parking brake lever and cable guide so that it WORKS
2) Small-body HEI conversion and get rid of this Chinatronix junk 3) POR-15 on a couple of trouble spots followed by topcoat 4) Get a key made for the bed toolbox and call it a day so I can finish my other car |

Re: What do you have left to do to your truck?
I'm more on the seemingly endless 'home stretch' of my build than the middle, but interior is the last major hurdle on my list, along with wiring up the parking lights & horn. I also have to replace the brand new March power steering pump that gave up on me last weekend after less than 500 miles, which was a pretty big let down since I finally got the engine tuned and running like I want it.

Re: What do you have left to do to your truck?
I just got my truck during the summer, and and I had to do a little bit to it (new disk brakes, update engine, hoses, plugs & wires, etc.) just to get it to the reliable driver state that it's in now. And now it's in dry-dock until next spring.
I'm not even gonna do a full restore on it, just fix the things that need fixing, and still here's my laundry list so far:
So yeah, it's an ongoing thing. Hope to get at least half way through the list in the Spring. |

Re: What do you have left to do to your truck?
I typically write a new page of "Things To DO" (TTD LIST) every time Im out in the shop at this point..... but with every line that I cross off the pages I feel like something is getting done.
Its beginning to feel like a "bucket list", but God willing I will have ample time to enjoy the fruits of my labor when its all done... At this point the list is long.... and life is getting shorter!
