Rear glass tools
So I'm sure this stuff isn't expensive but I made/modified a screw driver and a spoon to help with installing the cord into the gasket. It made installing the windows a breeze.

Re: Rear glass tools
I used hand cleaner without pumice as a lubricant.

Re: Rear glass tools
I did pretty much the same thing back when I was working on the chop of the cab in the early 80's
I made a trip out to the local flea market a few weeks ago and bought up a bunch of basically damaged screw drivers to modify as tools for various applications as the need arises. I wanted some to use to cut the bushings out of starters but a couple may get the window rubber mods before it's over Actually I think you can get a set of glass tools from Eastwood fairly reasonable.

Re: Rear glass tools
I made these three tools with some old screwdrivers and ball bearings of different sizes and was really glad I made the three different ones. The one I thought would work the best wasn't very good at all and the next smaller one worked much better.
The bowl has dish soap in it to dip the tools. This made a huge difference in installing the rear glass in my Rambler. Brian

Re: Rear glass tools
Funny. I had a '65 American 440H 2 dr...in '69 when I graduated from high school. Not quite the Chevelle SS or GTX that I wanted, but it got me from A to B.

Re: Rear glass tools
Looks to me that a hex head driver might work to spread the gap. I have had my rear window in and out a couple of times and do not remember it ever being an issue...

Re: Rear glass tools
It's a stone stock '59 American. I got it with a four door parts car that had a solid motor to rebuild. Put all new brakes from the master to lines to hoses to shoes, everything, all stock. I drive it every single day and feel it is a blessing I get to do so. Three speed on the column 196 ci flathead. My buddy Steve and I as we appeared in the Goodguys Gazette a few years ago. I have been driving it every single day the last four years. Brain
