The slowest 57 build ever
Can anyone tell me if the leading edge to the step, where it meets the vertical Hinge post is square? I am trying to fit up the step, and it is tight at the rocker, and the hinge pocket panel I replaced, kind of fades away from it.
If someone with an assembled cab could put a square against the step's riser and take a picture, it would sure help. Not much metal on the bottom of this truck I am starting with. Thanks |

Re: The slowest 57 build ever
that is a hard one to tell because the door tapers in from outside to inside, and along the front edge it is not straight up and down, so rounded along the hinge face. i just checked mine and it definately tapers in from the outside of the cab towards the middle. the rocker panel is tapered to match where the cab floor bends over the edge onto the step upright surface just behind the cab mounting bolt.. the pillar to the rocker step surface is hard to know because the door is not flat and neither is the opening. does that make sense? need a pic?

Re: The slowest 57 build ever
let me measure one tomorrow. If I remember right it flares out toward the rocker a bit but is vertically square to the step, I know the rear flares outward and is vertically square to the step

Re: The slowest 57 build ever
I remember from my carpet template the step in plan is not square. It is wider at outside. If dwscr does not get measurements I can.

Re: The slowest 57 build ever
I looked at it today and I'm going to have to readjust the lower hinge pocket I had already replaced. I think it's a little crooked. Then the step panel will line up. I want the cab a little more together before I move in January.
Thanks guys |

slowest build ever? I';ve been working on mine off and on since 1983. The progress is best described as "glacial."
