73-87 chassis questions....
Gentlemen! curious, im building a 48 GMC COE, and using a 76 chev 3/4 t chassis, has anyone had the experience of putting 1 ton duals on a 3/4 t?, it looks like it will fit with the drums fine but I question if it will have problems with rubbing against the frame? Wanting to use the 3/4 t because it looks like the rr would actually be a little narrower for fitting inside the older stepside box then a regular 1 t axel. Hope to hear some good answers! Thanks again!

I am almost positive the rear end will fit without rubbing since I have seen 3/4 ton Suburbans with dually rears under them.
The COE looks cool...have any front shots you would like to share? -Jeff |

I think you'll be fine with the tire to frame clearance, but spring pertches and shock mounts on the axle will probably have to be cut off and rewelded on. For some dumb reason chevy moved the springs inward on 1 tons (probably for tire clearance) and the shocks go different directions.
