Let's see those center consoles

We're about to put a new dashpad in and looking at building a matching center console to hold stereo and drink holders. Something from the bottom of the dash down and back toward the seat. Would love to see what you guys have built to help with ideas. I basically know what we'll probably be doing, but would love to see what others have done in case it triggers an idea.

Re: Let's see those center consoles

What did you cover it with? I'm looking at doing something similar, but smaller as we have the bench seat in place and will for the foreseeable future. I'm about to put in a new dash pad at the same time and want to match it (hopefully including texture).

Cool. Are those armrests hand made, or did you re-cover something out of another vehicle?

Re: Let's see those center consoles

$300 is a deal for a console if it's nice. There is a ton of time involved with custom. I got 4 hours in one little panel that holds my cell phone on mine, maybe 8" x 11" I am finishing today. I hope to have some installed pics this evening even thought I still got a couple months of work to do on the interior.

The ebay one looks a little to plastic to me , it may be vinyl wrapped, not sure. This is the one I am working on, not perfect but very happy with it.

Great looking stuff Vidman.

Re: Let's see those center consoles

Hey Vidman,

That looks amazing!!!! Can you provide any details on the materials you used??? Is it wrapped in vinyl? Painted? Do you have a build thread? Excellent work!!!!

I'm talking about the console and the area where the tank was.

Re: Let's see those center consoles

I do not have a build thread sorry. All of the interior was done in two shades of red leather. the console was made out of mdx, aluminum, fiber glass and last-a-foam. we ended up making it so that it formed onto the back panel and i think it came out pretty good. A lot of time went into that console. the back was a little more simple with aluminum backing and fitting it to the rear speakers

Thats sharp.. will there be a storage/armrest when youre done?

I dont think the ebay one has the armrest or storage included.. it looks like pretty much a fiberglass blank in the description..

Re: Let's see those center consoles

The console-armrest has a plastic Removable liner inside that is 8" wide 12" long and 8' deep.

This is the one I just took out of mine- unfinished- I was going to cover in leather or paint to match if I was going to keep it- I miss the cupholders already!

Re: Let's see those center consoles

Sorry Possm just saw your question. I decided not to do an armrest. I am thinking on building something different between the seats with a couple more speakers. I also went without storage since I had the glove box. You can check out my build thread and see what I have done so far installed in the truck for mock up. The weather got a little cold so I have not got everything accomplished I wanted to, yet.

Re: Let's see those center consoles

Where it gets real interesting(as I am finding out) is doing the console in a K-10. That offset transfer case shifter is throwing a wrench in the works. I would be real interested in ideas / pictures of 4WD center consoles. VIDMAN your work looks great.
