I've joined the K20 club!

Well, I now feel complete. I just picked up a K20 to join the Blazer and the Shortbed 4x4 to complete my wish list. It's a nicely optioned K20 that was owned by a gentleman for 40 years. He kept it mostly intact and original except for the paint. Even the in-bed spare tire holder there and functioning. He removed the in-cab tank and added an aftermarket aux tank on the right side to augment the factory aux tank. And of course the running boards. Upholstery is nice but not stock. Needs a steering wheel badly, and I mean badly, big chunks missing, my hands were getting pretty cold on the drive home holding onto the steel ring.
Not sure how I feel about the running boards. Don't usually like them at all, but they have kind of grown on me last couple days.
The body is pretty good, but the driver side cab corner has a hole, the rockers look good but close inspection says they are getting bad. The worst is there is evidence of bubbling on windshield frame above visor. don't know if a clearance light leaked or what. But other than that straight and solid.
Was originally ochre/white/ochre, but he redid it in mid eighties and changed the color to 1979 chevy brown. They did a complete job and returning to original will be a PIA.
Needs tires. Would like to go to original white steels and hubcaps. Got a call out to a distributor for STA Super Traxions in 16.5s but haven't heard back yet. 16.5 tires seem to be very problematic but I really like those.

Sweet! Good looking ride!

I am not a fan of the running boards but it ain't my truck . If you like'em, keep'em. Good looking option list too. I am a huge fan of the cab/roof lights.

Very nice find. There almost isn't enough glove box door for all those options. I've been looking for one that nice for awhile now but no luck.

Great buy! SPID shows aux tank w bed mount spare carrier too - not many of those. Nicely optioned.

Re: I've joined the K20 club!

Yep, the auxiliary tank is there and functioning but the cab tank has been removed. He put an aftermarket tank ahead of the wheel well in the passenger side (that gas neck is accessed inside the wheel well!) and the floorboard selector lever now chooses between those two. But the gauge selector knob on the dash doesn't work with that other tank, so you just keep it on the original aux tank position and never know how much fuel is in the other one. I would like to put that all back to original. The spare tire carrier was a nice surprise, I saw it on the SPID but he didn't have the tire mounted there when I went to see it, so I figured it was probably gone. When I went to pick it up he had mounted the spare tire with the original parts back in place.
