New Radiator in, now it's 2 cold

I got a new rad off E-bay, 4 core, got the new mounts and stuck it in. Now I'm running around 150 degrees if I run it hard. Wow what a differance. It's a 4 core cross flow style and they dilevered it to my job site on friday. Best $157 I ever spent.

What kind is it? I need a rad and this may well be the ticket.
Does it look to be a quality item, or will it only hold up for 5 years?

It's new, good quality, it's cross flow style, the tubes run tank to tank instead of up and down. It should hold up fine. I don't see needing anouther one for a long time. Here's a link to some of there auctions.

I would say if you want one, don't bid against each other, if there's a bid on there just wait for the next on up. Seems they off one every day. Mine with tax and dilevery was $157 which is cheaper than anyone else I have found.

Been lookin' too

Thanks for the info. I bought one that was supposed to be heavy duty from another supplier but it was the same as the stock inline six radiator in mine, just a little wider. I sent it back as it was too narrow for the new four core replacement brackets I had. I have new four core mounts and rubber supports as well as a four core shroud. All that should fit theses if I understand you correctly. Would be nice to run below 190-230.

Metal tanks, it's made by Transpro. I think it's the same company as Radiator.com. I ran it today but I just can't get it up over about 150 degrees. I checked it with a themometer and got a reading of 120 in the tank. They say you can add about 30 degrees to that coming out of the motor, but my gauge on the dash, which is correct is reading just below the left hand line and it takes a while to even get there.

May be a stupid question but, what does it take to get the heater hose connections into one?

Just go o any rad shop. They can brase one in in no time and you'll spend maybe 25 bucks.
Or you could run the heater hose to the intake and water pump and leave the rad alone.

Well thats my next thing to do. I did the stat but I drilled it with a couple of 1/4 holes in the sides of the flange. Thay act as a bypass and let traped air to bleed off. I'm going to change it to a stick in the open if it goes bad type.

Smile

Drill one hole, 1/8th" in the stat for air bleeding purposes. Two 1/4" holes is defeating the thermostats purpose.
