Moog 81114 Front Springs

If any of y'all are looking for a longer front spring with a lower spring rate that will maintain the ride height of a stock spring, check out the Moog 81114.... I cut half a coil off to get the ride height the same as the stock Moog 6082.

Does it have enough stored energy for a good launch.

Re: Moog 81114 Front Springs

I'll find out this weekend if they work any better... it's a lot easier to lift the front of the truck now. I can grab the fender by hand and lift it to full suspension travel.

Did you by chance measure free height before installing?
Do you know what the front of your truck weighs?
Are you willing to measure installed height?

Re: Moog 81114 Front Springs

I didn't measure them, but they're suppose to be 16.74" free height. The front of my truck weighs 2257lbs. It's around 10" installed with the half coil cut. It would probably work with a big block if you have stock spindles. I have 3" drop spindles.

BTW, I cut the half coil to get the spring end in the right position to fit the pocket... You can buy them new off Ebay for under $45

Have you driven your truck on the street since the spring swap? I'm curious if they affect street driving.

Yes, it nose dives more under braking and leans a good bit more if you make a quick turn... Rides pretty good down a straight road.

Re: Moog 81114 Front Springs

Any updates on these springs? Thinking about ordering a set for my truck. Currently have 2.5" drop spindles and 2" lowering springs. Hoping these will keep my current ride height with my BBC. Need more weight transfer.

Re: Moog 81114 Front Springs

Dustin,

IMO if you have not weighed your truck (front and rear), consider it. That will help determine the right spring.

Re: Moog 81114 Front Springs

Is it necessary to cut the coil? What would be the difference if you didn't? Building a 68 c10 with a small block. Rebuilding the front end, wondering what the difference would be if I didn't cut these springs. Thanks.

Re: Moog 81114 Front Springs

Interesting, those springs are Trailblazer springs. I DD a Trailblazer, with those springs for a little more lift.

They also offer a 81110 and 81112, the only difference being the free length. The rate is the same on all, here they are on my Trailblazer, which has a different mission lol.

Re: Moog 81114 Front Springs

Just an update on these springs. Finally got them installed on my truck. I didn't cut any coils and had a hell of a time getting them in, but they sit at 28.5" ground to fender lip with 2.5" drop spindles and a BBC. I expect them to settle to around 28". My old Belltech 2" drop springs had the truck sitting at 28", so these worked perfect for me. They made a huge difference in the weight transfer of the truck. We had our first race of the season at our local airport this weekend with minor track prep and had the truck running 1.64 60fts. This is pretty good for the first race of the year with not much rubber on the track yet. Anyways I would strongly recommend these springs if you want to get your truck to transfer. Yes, since the suspensions are basically the same.

Like I mentioned, they make the 10's and 12's also, if you guy's need a little less height.

The 81114's sit like a 2" drop spring in my BBC application with no cutting.
