Rear sway bar options

So I've done a little poking around here and have seen a few options, either pick n pull
f-body el camino, camaro, fire chicken setups/LMC or pick your catalogue addco sway bars and so on. My question is which set up is going to work best with a lowered truck? On my 66 I'm currently running 3" drop springs and 2" blocks but plan on going lower maybe even bagged.
Pictures are always appreciated

Re: Rear sway bar options

What does work best mean?
If your looking for max cornering ability it will depend on many factors including tires and track surface. Less traction available from those items will require a smaller bar or no bar for best results.
If you are just looking for less body roll with no regard for handling at the limit you will want a large restrictive bar.
Many people who autocross will disconnect a rear sway bar to dial in less oversteer.
It comes down to personal preference and desired use.

Changing ride height will change roll center and affect how much sway bar is needed also.

Its kinda like asking us what are the best tires.

Re: Rear sway bar options

I'm just looking to stiffen up the ride a little eliminating some of the body roll. I drive the truck daily, no autocross racing or racing of any sort other than when I'm late to work. I guess by "works best" I meant fits/looks best with the least amount of fabrication required. As well I'd like it to work at it's current ride hieght and as well if i decide to go lower. I guess a better way to find what I'm looking for is....What rear sway bar are y'all running on your lowered trucks? Where'd you source it? What'd you have to do to make it work?...... please include pictures.

Re: Rear sway bar options

I used a Camaro rear. super easy to put on. I think there are a couple different ways to install it. The trk is a 4 inch drop 63 swb. there is a hole in the frame on each side that lets ya put it in place without even doing any measuring. I used the mounts from the Camaro.

Re: Rear sway bar options

So as far as removing the brackets from the camaro/fire chicken.....how involved? Torch and air tools or just wrenches?

The rear end was a 3rd gen 1985 Camaro. I didn,t pull the rear end. the boys at the yard had pulled it before I even started lookin for a sway bar. you can see where they kinda cut the bracket a little torchin the rivets off. You could pull the sway bar pretty easy with wrenches, but those brackets are the key to placement. and I'm pretty sure they were riveted on.

That's even cooler.. Anyone that's worked in the wreckin yard knows, a good torch is worth a whole snap on tool box.
