1959 GMC at Barrett Jackson?
http://www.barrett-jackson.com/Event...-PICKUP-190105
The link above shows 59 GMC similar to mine. Except have a few questions the dash looks like a Chevy and so does grille. Along with the description being a 336 v8 it looks like straight six 235? Did GMC use the V dash also? |

I do know that there were Service trucks built that were a Stripped down version ie;single headlights in the dual headlight light bucket, different grille (a very stripped down Service truck Version) GMC truck, that they had the chevy V'd Dash but it has a GMC Logo in the glass of the speedometer. Might be what the truck is? I was at B/J last Saturday and probably seen the truck you are talking about! Never seen so many Early Camaro's and Corvette's! Fun Event, Allen |

Ok makes sense. We were supposed to go to Barrett Jackson this week then daughters college planned a winter swim work out in Ca. So cancelled plans to go to AZ and go watch her swim.

Re: 1959 GMC at Barrett Jackson?
Could be either... maybe originally a GMC with a Chevy cab transplant?
The radio antenna is on passenger fender...GMC trucks it's on the drivers fender. The grill, tailgate, hubcaps and badging is nothing but lipstick and proves nothing. Canadian built GMC trucks in 59 were assembled with the 235 but I am learning that certain years of GMC in the states had their own motors... I don't know the details...maybe someone can comment to this? Interesting truck for sure!

Wouldn't believe the description, bid and buy on what you see.

Re: 1959 GMC at Barrett Jackson?
Sold for 18700. That bit of "personalization as Paul put it probably cost the seller a couple of K as it was presented as a "restored" truck. Nice to buy and drive and take to car shows but maybe not an award winner in the serious restored class at a Chevy GMC truck show. For that selling price I'd drive it and grin.

Re: 1959 GMC at Barrett Jackson?
I went to B&J, and looked at it.
I liked it, but was not impressed by it. It was definitly cleaned up for the show since there was no dust on it anywhere except for the paint that was being dusted by the cars going to the auction tent. It was definitely clean clean, but not driven over a few miles. The paint hadn't burned off the exhaust....Looked like the paint had recently been buffed out, and wasn't fresh, but not damaged in anyway. Definitely a show car/investment, not a driver by any means. Looked like whoever restored it never restored one of these by the little things I was able to pick up on my own. For it to sell for 18,000, somebody got a great deal, but you can't drive it or the 18,000 will evaporate as the thing starts to wear.

Re: 1959 GMC at Barrett Jackson?
I looked at it again and noticed it did not have a heater, so may have started out as a Fleet Option which got the grille and headlights upgraded.

Re: 1959 GMC at Barrett Jackson?
I see that the motor is the 270 straight, as the valve cover is held on by two studs through the top, not four on the outside lip that meets the head. I have the same motor in my 58-59 Chevy/Gmc mutt truck. Titled as a 58 Apache though, so that's what I'm sticking with!
