Truck listing to one side
I am wondering if anyone has ever encountered the rear of there trucks listing to one side or the other. My truck with new springs, both springs installed in the same location, has a 3/4" list to the drivers side. Drivers side sitting a little lower than the ps. I have looked the frame over and cannot find any deviation from one side to the other. I had a 2004 GMC Seirra that had a slight list to one side and it was brand new.
Has anyone had anything like this? I was thinking of placing a 3/4' block at the top of the spring to see if that takes it out. I am measuring the height at the bumper which is bolted to the frame. Thanks for any thoughts on this. Ron |

Re: Truck listing to one side
Make sure that your springs are in the proper location (meaning rotation). If the pigtails are not seated correctly then you might end up with different heights. Also if you are measuring from the bed and not the frame it might be the bed that is crooked.

Re: Truck listing to one side
Thanks forestb, yes I did go back and re position the springs to what the manual showed. Also I measure from the bumper which was not bent and mounts to the frame.

Re: Truck listing to one side
Measure from the ground to the bottom of the frame rail on each side, not the bumper.
Measure the same at the front suspension to make sure everything is square. Then start looking to see where things might be off. Check the bed mounts, the body mounts too--they may be the problem and it's the body that is listing and not the chassis. Make sure the panhard bar isn't twisted or binding as well. Measure from the top of the axle housing to the frame above it. In short, measure anything and everything that could be off, from front to rear. -Brad

Re: Truck listing to one side
Did you put new front springs in it? If so we see this all the time with the front spring not seated in the top correctly. It gets hung up on the spigot in the pocket. Also a shock in a bind will make one to lean.

Re: Truck listing to one side
I will go back and check the floor to frame again. I installed new front springs too but made sure they sat in the proper spot in the control arm pockets. The front is good and sits level. I have made adjustments in the box to get it to sit level with the rest of the body. I was thinking yesterday of checking the bumper again to make sure it is not listing instead of the frame. Might just be the bumper is a little off. Thanks for all the info guys I do appreciate it. Will let you know what I find.

Re: Truck listing to one side
Sounds like the pan hard bar to me...
I would make sure it's set correctly.. ESPECIALLY if you lowered the truck.. |

Re: Truck listing to one side
I didn't lower the truck and I installed the bar with the bent end towards the carrier or gear case. Is that how they are supposed to be installed ?
