1989 GMC Crew 4x4
This is what I started with. Went to San Hose California to pick it up. Drove 2280 miles home. That was Jan 27, 2016.

Re: 1989 GMC Crew 4x4
Currently 454 400 205 combo. Looking for an overdrive I can afford. 454 was freshened up in 2011 with rings bearings and a "RV" cam by the PO in 2011. Pulls better than stock but not anything crazy.
Going to become a shortbed soon. |

Re: 1989 GMC Crew 4x4
Looks like you found a nice clean truck to start with and you are making quick progress, I will be following. I am in the middle of a similar build.
Does you truck have 4" of lift, it appears to.

Just got back from the city and LMC. Bought everything that was rubber and a few other goodies like a cowl hood and new bumpers. Can not wait to get this baby done!

Again, good meeting you on your way through AZ. Still can't believe you drove that pretty much straight through by yourself!

Re: 1989 GMC Crew 4x4
Back to shortbed. Just bought new everything to build a bed today. Going to put both gas doors on the driver side as I hate moving when I do fillups.

Re: 1989 GMC Crew 4x4
I don't see any pics. I would like to, but I don't.
I post pics to all of my forums through Photobucket. It is a simple copy and paste.

Re: 1989 GMC Crew 4x4
Thanks for the assist N2TRUX
I like the color. Is it the factory grey that was on your center stripe when you got the truck?

Re: 1989 GMC Crew 4x4
It is funny. I swore I would not go gray and had planned on blue, but at the last minute we changed our collective minds. I like it as it is growing on me. In person there is a lot of metallic and I think in the sunshine it will really "pop."

Re: 1989 GMC Crew 4x4
It is a short bed now. Well short bed frame. I will have to get a phootbucket account. Jabin is delivering the harness for the windows Sunday. Drive shaft is at the shop.
Wish I could find a solid rear window that was DARK tinted to match my door glass so I could avoid tint. Still need DARK gray seatbelt. |

Re: 1989 GMC Crew 4x4
Have you considered an interior dye? I haven't used them, myself, but from what I've seen - people have had success with dye in the past.
