New Project = New problems 1964 K-10 Ebrake

So, Ive recently picked up a new 64 K10 project I6 230 4 speed. The guy I bought it off of told it came off a ranch in Montana, wasn't running well (vacuum advance on wrong port on carb moved it, runs perfect now), he thought the transfer case was broken or stuck in 4wd (I noticed the t case shifter was on the other side of the 4speed had a look under neath and i think someone put a np205 in it as some point he was looking at the sticker on the roof that said 2wd is all the way forward but the np205 that is 4 low.. easy fix), Its also missing the e brake handle, cable cut under dash taken apart underneath and tied off to the side.
Finding a handle and making a new front cable was easy enough but now I'm not sure how to hook it up back behind the transfer case. I was wondering If anyone has any pictures of how this all goes together on a 64 k10 or any good ideas on how to get it to work?

Underneath pics are what i have deal with behind the transfer case. I'm not too sure what parts I'm missing but I have a feeling when they put in the 205 tcase the e brake never got put back together and parts got lost. New High tunnel when they replaced the t case too, no patch job.

My Old 64 K-10 when i sold it a few years back. I sure wish i paid more attention to the e brake setup lol Had a 353 Detroit in it.

Yes, thank you this helps!, my cellphone pics are not the greatest. It looks like I am missing the two brackets on the x-member and the arm or lever. Hard to tell but my x- member might be different too.

your cross member is different than the standard t221 one. I have a 205 in mine and it utilizes the orig member

I think that Ron just nailed it. IIRC, the two brackets are attached to the original cross member that came with the truck. There is also a bar that would pivot on the center bracket and rest / slide in the other bracket on the drivers side. I think the bar is used to multiply leverage and to attach the rear cables to the front

I had both. i took the trans from a scout plus the mounting stuff. the IHC is the one that will fit in. the problem with the dodge is the oddball u-joint yokes. some of the dodge stuff was better internally so I used them. I have always wondered though that one may be able to use the case from a married unit and swap all of the components over from a ford divorced 205. I think that the only difference is that the ford is a let hand drop and the others a r/hand drop.

I think that I may be out of luck then trying to get the original hardware to work with my Tcase xmember. Could a e-brake setup from a 67-72 could work? I found a hardware set and I think the cables should be easy to find but will it work on the 64 frame? only diagram I could find so far looks like just for a 2wd.

Options I thought of were fabricate a bracket and lever that attaches to the passenger side of the frame.
Or go with a transfer case e-brake setup but more $$$ than I want to spend and not sure if it would pass an out of province inspection.
Lokar universal cable setup like this this how I would route the cable to the passenger side? Any other opinions or ideas?

You know Tandaman, Im pretty sure that the two brackets bolt onto the crossmember. With a little looking, you might be able to find them. If you need pics or measurements, let me know. I need to get under and adjust the parking brake cable anyway.

I managed to find some more picture angles of the cross member and it looks like one bracket is welded and the other is bolted on to the back lip. Is this how yours looks? My concern is that my cross member doesn't have as big of a lip in the back to attach the brackets. If your still willing, measurements of the length and height of the 2 brackets, the distance from each bracket to the inside frame rail, and the length of lever would be greatly appreciated. I may still be able to make it work. I need to try and get a better look at mine to compare

it is more like 61k10's setup than what you have there

That's an international cross member, I just removed one with a np205 from a 1970 international truck last fall.

Yes that is identical to what I have. Ill have some time tomorrow to get some pics in the daylight. It looks like it would be pretty easy to fab up. One word though. The bar that ties the front and rear cables to the anchor tab in the center is a hardened piece. I drilled mine to to get my '05 E brake cables to fit. Using lots of cutting wax, I managed to burn up 4 - 3/8" titanium bits on the drill press. I suppose it's hardened to resist deflection when the E brake is used. The other brakes look like they could be fabbed easily.
You mentioned an inspection. Does the assembly have to look like a factory installed deal? Forgive my ignorance as I have never had to have mine inspected.

No kidding Ron, I ran the press as slow as it would go. I hate burning bits. I have to constantly buy bits at work for guys that either drill too fast, put too much pressure or use no lube. It drives me insane! And to think that i did it repeatedly in my own garage just kills me. Weird but I think it's an OCD thing for me!
