Dragonfire electronic ignition 235 ci

Hello,
I have a 47 thriftmaster with a 1962 built 235. I purchased a Dragonfire electronic ignition.
My question is what size plugs and wires should I use?
Any comments are appreciated

Any 8mm plug wire will work fine. Im currently using Champion RJ18YC6 with a large gap around 65 I think.

I believe that was supposed to be 18mm?

I would not go much over .060" on the gap. Larger gaps can reduce cap life.

No he was correct with 8 mm. 18 MM is just over 11/16 and that would be pretty fat ignition wires.

I found mine on ebay. $130.00, no wires. Easy to find there.

I read 8mm plug and skipped right over the "wire." I even copied it into the quote!!

Is it Friday yet?

Re: Dragonfire electronic ignition 235 ci

Hello,

i also want to modify my old mechanic ignition to a electrical one.
I found that offer on Ebay USA.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-HEI-IGNI...9UxpTF&vxp=mtr

Have someone experience (good or bad) with the Dragonfire Igniton?
Is some other equipment necessary (coil??) for working?

Re: Dragonfire electronic ignition 235 ci

I put the Dragonfire ignition system with 10.2mm wires. Platinum plugs gapped at .050. Some say you can gap them up to .065.
My mechanic said the bigger the gap retards your timing so I went conservative.
Runs like bat out a hell.

No, resistors are for points to help save the contacts, Most all electronic ignition I know of use 12v. unless its a 6 v system

Re: Dragonfire electronic ignition 235 ci

That is nothing but a GM HEI. Use full battery voltage, no resistor. Gap plugs to .045 - .055.

unfortunately these inexpensive HEI clones have a very bad reputation for reliability. Sometimes the module goes out on the first trip, leaving you stranded. Make sure you have AAA or classic car insurance with free towing. Hagerty is a favorite.
