Re: Poly on my wood bed
yes I did with 220 grit sandpaper.
it looks like a boat very thick but If I wanted to I could put something in the back with out worrying about hurting the wood. Mind you nothing but a grill and chairs will ever be going in there. Tailgating at The New England Patriots games. |

Re: Poly on my wood bed
Thanks. Do I have to drill the sides of the edge boards and the front of the boards by the cab? I have the main mounting holes predrilled.

"Thanks. Do I have to drill the sides of the edge boards and the front of the boards by the cab? I have the main mounting holes predrilled."
The angle strips are factory welded in with bolts welded in place. Everything I read said do not remove the Angle strips or bolts that are welded in place. So I etched out the bolt holes and slid the boards under the Angle strips |

Re: Poly on my wood bed
if my memory serves me correct we had to cut in 9 holes for only the 2 edge boards. this allowed the to slide under and the metal strips hold them down.
the strips not holding down the angle we bought bigger 2" Fender Washer stainless for even more support |

Re: Poly on my wood bed
Chris
I drew up something very crude on my pc ( not to scale) The black lines represent holes cut in the wood. Circles represent the cut out for the bed to frame bolts. Now if you managed to remove the colts from the angle strips you will not have to slot the wood but would be able to drill it instead. Most of the time you ( even if you have bough a pre drilled kit) Will have to slot. I know someone that has built a few step sides and when we were milling the wood he said your going to need to slot the wood. We thought he was wrong in the end we had to. |

Re: Poly on my wood bed
Perfect. Thanks for the illustration. My bed is completly apart. I think I should be able to drill holes and not have to slot them. Thanks for all the help. Hoping to get it ready for install here in the next week or so
