Rear Bumper

Hey guys/ gals. I currently have the diamond plate rear step bumper on my 71 C10. I am wanting to replace it with an original repro style. Will I have to purchase new brackets or do they work interchangeable?

Re: Rear Bumper

I did the same thing recently, I had to buy the new brackets...the old bumper had simple plate steel brackets

Re: Rear Bumper

LMC has the brakets available but I don't remember the price right off hand. I don't think they were that bad. I'm going to do the same thing with mine.

Re: Rear Bumper

Yes you have to have brackets. The ones you have are most likely a generic type with your bumper made to fit the "other" type trucks as well. That is why when you look at them they will have unused sets of holes.Jim

Re: Rear Bumper

I did the same thing. You have to buy everything. The license plate bracket, light, bolts ( bumper and bracket bolts) and brackets and ya the gravel shield. I did it from classic industries it was a little over $300. Worth it in my opinion it completely changed the look of my truck

Re: Rear Bumper

I have helped convert many of these trucks from step bumpers to the smooth rear bumpers with all the related hardware. It really dresses them up. I sell parts for local purchase from my part time business in the Des Moines area, and I usually have at least 2 new bumpers with full set of hardware in stock. I have 3 right now. Art

I chose the painted one. Came in black primer. I thought it looked cool so I left it in primer.

Re: Rear Bumper

I'm just seeing that you sell these. I ordered the kit already. But id def sell you my step bumper. Its practically new. I restored my truck 2 years ago and its garage kept. I also have a steering column and interior pieces as well.

Re: Rear Bumper

The smooth bumpers do look nice but OMGosh are the step bumpers a help when climbing over a tail gate!

Once I get my truck running I am going to try and get a step bumper or maybe make my own now that I can weld a little bit.

I am sorry but I don't text. It's hard for me to do and frankly, it's just annoying. I would be happy to give you a call though. Is there a good time?
