Threaded holes and pin on bellhousing

Can someone tell me what this threaded hole and pin are for, there is the same on the opposite side? I know when I pulled the transmission originally, there was nothing mounted to these locations so I'm thinking maybe just to a different type transmission(currently connected to a sm465).

I think he meant the 1960-1966 trucks.

Yes, 2wd application to 72. From what Ive found the 4wd used the same bell housing and left the 2wd mounts bare

Correct. 2WD trucks require the bell housing mount to support the tranny. 4WD trucks do not use this mount. They use the mount under the transfer case to support the tranny.

Re: Threaded holes and pin on bellhousing

Cool. Thanks all, just finishing up this thing and wanted to make sure I didn't find a bell housing flux capacitor in the corner that I forgot to install!

good to know... wasn't sure if it was the differential girdlespring or the reciprocating dingle arm!
