63 Chevy truck Splash Pan Radiator rubber
Can anybody point me to a picture or something how the front lower splash pan rubber installs? I have a rad setup from a 292 build. Plenty of pics on the top and side seals, but this one is escaping me.

This what you need? The last pic is my original (which was rotten and falling off).

Re: 63 Chevy truck Splash Pan Radiator rubber
This helps a lot. I will pull the radiator and clean up the area and look for some staple holes. I do not have that rubber piece metals all there - actually my rad is sitting on two pieces of mud flap. No lower saddles or rubber and the top is minus rubber in the metal bracket. Its a wonder it has not worn a hole though the tanks, It is a four core Harrison though.

Functional, not factory.

I used stainless wire.

Re: 63 Chevy truck Splash Pan Radiator rubber
Played with some 16 Ga nails for a Porter Cable nail gun. 2 1/2" long and galvanized. This is workable be nice if there was a stainless version.

Re: 63 Chevy truck Splash Pan Radiator rubber
So the PO put a larger radiator and upper bracket on the 63 with a 230 - my guess is 292/V8. Found the lower saddles and just about square just need idea of the rubber from the pan. Is this the same as the other smaller and narrower radiator - the one you showed above?

Re: 63 Chevy truck Splash Pan Radiator rubber
Is that rubber piece found on '60-'62 trucks? I don't think I've ever seen it.

Re: 63 Chevy truck Splash Pan Radiator rubber
This give an idea of the larger radiator positioning. The lower saddles are on the upper member and closer to the pan. The other square holes are where the small radiator mounts lower and between the frame rails.
So on the small rad, the rubber blocks the gap, downward and between the pan and cross member as the tank height bin saddle brings coils up almost level - correct? On larger rad the rubber seals the gap between the pan and rad tank itself sense it is almost level, slightly higher. Leadbelly |

Re: 63 Chevy truck Splash Pan Radiator rubber
My 66' does not have that splash guard, and their are not any staples holes in the metal either.

Re: 63 Chevy truck Splash Pan Radiator rubber
Made a rubber piece from a 1/8" neoprene gasket material. Moving on to the sides next.
Thanks for the help guys. Think this will work. Leadbelly |

Re: 63 Chevy truck Splash Pan Radiator rubber
One thing i should mention here is I put a 2 1/2" body lift on the truck, hence the difference in rad and pan. A lot of it is photo'ed here:

Re: 63 Chevy truck Splash Pan Radiator rubber
So added some pictures to Flicker page since the radiator mount and sealing wound up a total redo. Pan was first, sides second, and finishing up top. Shows how I stapled the rubber back in with 16 ga nails etc.
