newest version of the dropmember for 55-59 COILOVER
I decided to post up what I got for my '59 Apache because there is very little information out there on the coilover design of the dropmember from PB. I have Googled over and over trying to find a 55-59 running the coilover setup Nate makes and all anyone seems to post is the air ride version. So, I thought I would be a responsible forum member and give back a little info to the guys that have given me so much over the past 10 years. Here are pics of the NEWEST version of the coilover dropmember. I believe I was the first to receive this version, so this will help anyone considering buying a new one.
First of all, the biggest improvement in my opinion, is the room added for headers. They designed the frame to slowly taper towards the suspension instead of a 90 degree step in at the firewall frame rails. Nate designed it to make some more room for headers to fit without having to cut them and fabricate a bend in them. Second, they improved the rack and pinion mounting location so that you don't have to notch the frame to accomodate it. You can see the mounting points to either side of the logo on the crossmember. I just loosely fit up the parts to give you an idea of how it goes together, and to try and figure it out for myself. I will go ahead and throw this out there, this is a LONG term project. I am not in any hurry to get this truck together. My plans are to run the No-Limit fat bar rear suspension and an LS motor. |
