I'm 90% sure but I want to be 100%
So I am replacing my intake manifold gaskets and I bought this gasket:
http://www.jegs.com/i/Edelbrock/350/7201/10002/-1 I am 90% sure that it will work perfectly, but I am strayed by the fact that it says it is made for performer rpm heads on the package. I have a goodwrench 350 crate motor and I got this gasket because it has the perforated center opening, which my heads and performer RPM intake need. My problem is I do not have performer RPM heads, though my heads also have this port. Just making sure it's all good to use. Don't wanna end up doing this again. |

Fits 1955-1986 engines, so must be a standard small block Chevrolet.
The only time you'd likely have an issue is if you were buying gaskets made for an exotic head that had raised intake ports, and that's pretty uncommon, esp. on small blocks. It even says it fits 400s which surprised me because I thought they had steam ports or something (likely backwards compatible, that's why I suppose).

400s have the steam ports on the cyl head gasket, not needed with the intake |

Thanks! I've never had a 400, so was working with some hazy 30 year old memories of someone else's!

My heads do have that center port which is why I chose this gasket.

I know what you mean. Is Eldelbrock telling you these will only work with their heads or is it just a case of them brainwashing us into only using their stuff. Does it really matter or is it like when you buy Goya red beans and rice and the directions tell you to use Goya olive oil when any olive oil will be fine? Or paint companies telling you to only use their brand primer, reducer, clear, etc when as long as you know your paint you know what is required and often omeone else's clear is better.
