60-66 Ambulances and Brush Fire Trucks

I know there's a thread already concerning "commercial/utility" trucks but I'd like to narrow this thread down to strictly photos of 60-66 ambulances and brush fire rigs. Here are a few to kick it off. Can anyone add more?

Re: 60-66 Ambulances and Brush Fire Trucks

Like Ole Blue, I cant add any pics but watching the old tv series Emergency! on MeTv, there has been some 64-66 panels as ambulances on the show. One small slider window in each side and of course Red bottom with white top.

Re: 60-66 Ambulances and Brush Fire Trucks

My 66 GMC Suburban started life as an ambulance for the Mt. Vernon fire dept. here in Wa. Although many of the aspects that made it so are mostly gone due to them being removed years ago. It still has both functioning spot lights, all the mounts for the gear inside,as well as the wiring for the original bull horn and siren light. It came from the factory with power steering, power brakes, heavy duty rear leaf springs, and the Custom chrome trim package. The only thing it does not have is factory a/c. The last picture was taken today as I began an engine swap to replace the very very tired 305e v6 and p/g with a 350/350/combo. I will then start putting it back the way it was by tracking down period correct interior and exterior accents. If anyone lives near Everett Wa and has GMC parts, I'm looking to buy a new grille w/ letters, or just the letters with brackets, a new hood, and a front bumper w/guards. They were all slightly damaged before I bought it back in 2001. I have a black and white pic of it too somewhere that I'll have to scan and post of it actually in the FD garage.

Re: 60-66 Ambulances and Brush Fire Trucks

Thanks for the contributions guys but I'm hoping to narrow the focus here to strictly ambulances and fire department/rescue trucks... not so much trucks that "used to be" one. Even more specifically, I'd like to keep it to light trucks and Carryalls... not so much medium duty stuff. Only C/K 10-30 please, and in their fire/rescue livery. Gracias!

This station had some experience with brush fires and fires in forests: those white lines going from the front of the hood to the rack above the cab, are to sweep branches away from the windshield. I assume they're chain or cable, with a white sheath over them.
The red downbars add additional protection to the wrap-around portion of the windshield.
A buddy of mine with a Ramcharger lost a windshield that way and installed cables from his front hood corners to the drip rail. I've seen other "safari" vehicles done the same way.
