L6 Factory AC brackets

I just returned from a swap meet. I bought brackets for an AC compressor that were tagged for a Chevy inline 6. Seller said they came off a mid to late 70's 250ci.

I may have a nice treasure or maybe I have scrap metal.

Does anyone have photos of an 64-74 Chevy L6 engine with factory AC brackets?

I'll photograph mine tomorrow but it's late here now and I'm worn out. I checked for info in the FAQ section but didn't find info or pics about the brackets.

Pulled this compressor setup off a 66 Chevrolet, north of Denton Tx, at CTC Auto Ranch, that had a camper on it at one time. Also got the condensor. Their different than the 63 setup.

Thanks for the pics. Stuff I bought might be for A/C. The shape is different than yours and I wouldn't be surprised if they made design changes. This guys table was well organized and stuff was labeled. He said it came off of mid 70's 250. I'll post pics later. Good for me that I have a 250 in my garage on blocks so I can play around with fitment.

The more I looked at this thing, the more I doubted it was from an inline 6.
Then I held it up to the 1971 250ci I have in the shop. There were 3 bolt holes that lined up perfectly and yet I don't think the long bracket arm that goes down to the motor mount bracket hole makes any sense.

This thing is pretty weird. Still scratching my head and doubt that I can use it for an A/C bracket.

(Sorry - the first 3 pics are rotated 90 degrees CCW) The bracket that bolts next to the water neck blocks the upper heater hose return nozzle but a 90 degree elbow there would fix that. Some pieces might be missing but it is very interesting how the brackets accommodate the fuel pump and oil filter.

what you have would be for a mid 70's with the r4 compressor. the block has an additional boss down by the pan to support the bracket

Thanks for the pics. My swap meet brackets are just plain weird. Took a gamble and wasted $30. Oh well. The photos and help are much appreciated. Hopefully this thread will help other folks. It apoears to me that the large style HEI distributor with the internal coil would not be compatible with the original style AC bracket.

There is also the option of the small HEI with external coil that Tom Langdon sells at Stovebolt.

I had to modify the bracket to get pulleys to align properly on my 292, but I am not "stock". I can post pics if needed.

Yes, not too far. Went there once years ago, they were not parting out but selling whole cars...dont know if that changed.

It is a legit bracket. I just found one in the junk yard. It was off a 79 truck with the intergraded head. Im trying to mount the bracket my self and was looking for picutres.

I have learned a bit more about this bracket since my original post. As mentioned, some inline 6 engines have a boss down near the oil pan as a mounting point for the lowest part of the bracket. I have pictures of the boss. I have inline 6 engines that have the boss, but not all of them have the boss. It’s a rather odd bracket, but yes it’s legit.

Lugnutz 65 could you post the pictures of the boss. I tried to mount yesterday. the part of the bracket that mounts near the bottom of the engine is causing trouble. I also noticed I will have to figure out a way to mount the heater hose to the water outlet. The bracket is in the way. I think that would be the easier fix. May just go with a bracket from Davis racing. Im getting ready order a sure fit from Vintage Air.

Here is a 1964 230ci with the boss on the passenger side of the timing cover. It has 2 holes. Last pic is my 1963 230 which also has the boss. I've owned a couple 1970's 250ci engines that didn't have the boss. It would be fairly easy to fabricate a bracket if your L6 doesn't have the boss.
