How the heck do these come off?!

Guys, I am trying to install new style breathers on my Transmission and transfer case, and I cannot figure out how the originals come off. I removed the cap with a pair of pliers, then I used a screwdriver in the slots but the fitting just spins like it dies not have threads on it. A friend thought maybe it has an Allen head screw down inside of it so I tried everyone I have to no availe. Need a little help please.......

They are pressed in, try a pair of vice grips and twist it back and forth
