I am in the process of installing a set of GM NOS front fenders on my 66 burb. They are painted and know needing all the underside rubber pieces. First question. How do you remove the "t" shaped looking clips that attaches the metal extension to the under side of the fender. Can I get new clips. Is their an article on how to replace all the rubber parts, stapling on new etc?

Tap a screw driver into the slot , be a little gentle and just get it loose enough to come out.. They spread out when you squeeze them to the position they are in now.

Good morning Thanks for the information. One more question--- are the staples to hold the seals in place available or will I have to make some?

Use fake flower greening clips for the staples, WAY easier than the stiff oem ones, cut the excess off. I did it in my build thread in my sig, another member here gave the idea. Local craft stores have them, like $2 for 50 of them (or more):

Did you try the fenders on the truck before you panted them? When I did my 1965 pickup back in 2001 I was able to get one of the last sets from the GM parts dept up here. The right fender fit great but the left was a major problem. When the vertical rear hat shaped support was fitted to the fender it was suppose to go under the rear lip before it was folded over but mine was set against the lip instead of under it thus moving the fender back when mounted. It overlapped the door by about 3/8" so had to bend the lip back. drill out spot welds and put the support in the proper place and then back together. Worst problem was we elongated the mounting holes into the skirt by 3/8" so the washers don't cover all the holes. Hope you don't experience the same situation with your N.O.S. factory fenders

does anyone make a repro of that closing panel the rubber staples too? I am missing one, I looked at LMC and Brothers with no luck. Or, do I just have to make one.

sooo, sweet never mind for anyone else looking Classicparts had them the right ones are out of stock but fortunately I only needed a left.

Yes, I did prefit the fenders and they fit very well. Someone once told me that some NOS sheet metal parts could be seconds. Poor fit ?? or ? Not sure. j
