Autometer temp gauge reading high?
I tapped my sender on the back side of the passenger head. When I plug the scanner in its telling me I'm running between 200-205 temps. My gauge is reading over 250. You guys have any problems like this with the temp sensor located at the back of the passenger head?

That's the way I did my gauge,, I've had no issues with different readings.

Re: Autometer temp gauge reading high?
Did you bleed the air out of the system? Air pockets will throw the temp readings off.

Re: Autometer temp gauge reading high?
Same way you would on any LS motor. Fill the system from the top hose, and make sure the rad (and res if you have one) are filled. Warm the truck up, and turn your heater on high if you have one.
I usually give the upper and low hoses a few squeezes each just incase there was a pocket or kink, but wait until the tstat has clicked and that coolant is in the whole system. Usually you should see the levels in the radiator (and/or res) go down and you'll need to add coolant. Once you see bubbles in the radiator stop and the level seems to stay stable, I give each hose another squeeze or two and check that the levels are full, before capping off the system. I've even jacked a car up and down a few times if I was REALLY worried about it. Rarely if ever "needed", but gives you an odd satisfaction. I've only done that one trouble-prone vehicles.

Re: Autometer temp gauge reading high?
Yeah, I'm pretty sure I don't have air in the system anymore. I filled from the top hose, and also used one of the funnels that sits above the radiator to fill too. This is the same gauge that I had high oil pressure readings. I'm starting to wonder if I have a bad gauge? Would bad grounds cause this too? This is the gauges I'm using.

Re: Autometer temp gauge reading high?
Have you tried a different sending unit? I would think bad grounds would cause no reading but I'm not sure,,, I like mechanical gauges myself..

Good to hear...I may have missed it but what was the deal with your oil gauge and what fixed it?

Re: Autometer temp gauge reading high?
Could be a bad ground. Did you use teflon tape on the threads? That can cause it to not ground properly and give faulty readings. If you un hok the wire from the sender and turn the key on, does it go to full hot or full cold, I cant remember? If its the kind that goes to full hot when not hooked up, or essentially not grounded, then it would make sense that if you had a bad ground it would read higher than it should.
