TF spring shackles, rear

I have the original style spring shackles in my 57's rear, and I made new shackles that were 1 1/2" longer than the originals to drop the rear some more.
My thinking is that somewhere, someone has got to make a car type spring shackle setup for these springs that use a car type rubber shackle.
Could be shooting myself in the foot, but it might ride a little smoother with rubber style instead of the all metal ones that screw into the barrels.

Anyone convert to the rubber type?

Re: TF spring shackles, rear

The trick is that the eye of the spring is pretty darn narrow. I think after searching around a while I did eventually find some poly bushings I could *just* fit into the spring. There wouldn't be any room for a metal anti-crush sleeve to slip into the poly + any reasonably sized bolt. It could be done on the spring side but with damned little poly left. I guess some is better than none, though.
On the frame side, you'd have to fabricate. Since you are fabbing, though, sky is the limit.
If you go for it, post pics & results. I've been thinking about how to tinker with the leaf suspension to smooth it out a bit myself.
There aren't a ton of options for 2" wide springs. I think I recall that CJ-7 Jeep springs are a very near match for dimensions, though, and you could build a marriage of the two spring packs if you wanted to use the CJ's bushing set.
Depending how much weight you want to carry & how high you want it to sit, you could maybe just use a CJ-7 spring and call it a day.

Re: TF spring shackles, rear

My mistake.
The front springs are a near match.
The rears, CJ springs are *way* too short for our trucks.
