6 cyl. Vibration Damper install
Hi Guys......I'm putting my 67 6 cyl. back together and am wondering what everyone does to install the damper on the front of crank ?? The crank has no threaded hole in it and I hate to pound the new one on and then wonder when its gonna come off with no bolt holding it... I drilled and tapped a 283 awhile ago that was the same deal (no hole). I guess that's what I'll have to do with this ????? Thanks, Dave

Re: 6 cyl. Vibration Damper install
Put the balancer in a pot of water and bring it up to 200 degrees , make sure the crank stub is clean and new key in place , lube with small amount of engine oil or wd40 then place ice bags on and around crank stub to cool it down after about 30 minutes take the still 200 hot balancer and using gloves line it up and drive it on using a short 12" piece of 2x4 and a 2 lb hammer, driving pressure only on the center of the balancer until it's fully seated to the crank it won't come off if you install correctly .
