Added a front spoiler. Whadyathink?
I modified a front valance spoiler from a late 80s truck a mounted it just behind the bumper. The mods that I did was to trim and turn in the ends to dress them up and so they would line up with the body lines. It took me forever to find a good spoiler though. Most we're scratched, bent, or broken. To mount it I just fabricated some clamping tabs to hold it in place.

I haven't figured out how to put multiple pictures on one thread. Here's a pic with it mounted. Kinda hard to see with the sun. It looks like it was made for it.

Yes! I've been meaning to do this exact thing for years. More pix of install please!

The shadow interferes w/ clearly seeing the installed picture.
A friend of mine installed one of those on a 66. I wonder if those spoilers are still available new...not likely... |

Re: Added a front spoiler. Whadyathink?
I couldn't run that... the width of the spoiler is how high my bumper is off the ground

Re: Added a front spoiler. Whadyathink?
LOL, just the opposite here. My front bumper sits less than 3 inches from the pavement. I think the spoiler would drag. But it looks cool on the right height.

Re: Added a front spoiler. Whadyathink?
Same here... I meant thickness or height?

Re: Added a front spoiler. Whadyathink?
I just saw a Tahoe (late 90s-mid 2000s?) with Towhooks and driving lights in the air dam. Not what I'm looking for, but I'm sure it would meet someone's needs/wants. It looked nice with everything all molded and factory edged. It would be a great way for one to have driving lights without cutting your bumper. Sorry no picture on this one

I didn't think about a jack... definitely wouldn't fit under from the front. The low profile jack I have now barely fits under the front control arm.

Re: Added a front spoiler. Whadyathink?
I'm still going to try one...since there fairly cheep and see if I can still use the low profile jack without having to drive up on 2x12 boards.

Re: Added a front spoiler. Whadyathink?
This is an update of sorts.
I was out on the road today, and noticed the "Air Dam" on the front of a Chevy "Colorado" pickup. Now please keep in mind that I don't know the length on it, but the shape and height of it may make it an option for those with lowered trucks. From the looks of it, I would guess it's about 2 1/2 inches wide and the curve has a ground effects shape. |

Re: Added a front spoiler. Whadyathink?
Near as I can gather the Colorado is 4 inches narrower than the Silverado. Hope this helps

Someone on one of my FB pages posted a pic of a front Spoiler from TMI.
Anyone interested might check it out. |

Re: Added a front spoiler. Whadyathink?
I run one as well, I like the way it looks especially on moderate dropped trucks. As stated above on slammed trucks it just is to low to function.

How many mpg will you lose with that "air dam"?

Re: Added a front spoiler. Whadyathink?
Air dam should add to mileage by keeping air from under the truck, GM puts them on new trucks/suburbans for a reason!!
