Re: For all the Canadian guys...Crossing border with just a cab
so then you are going to change the vin nbrs. I would ask your orig questions to Canada customs and the MVO of ontario. just give them a call or go into one of their offices and ask. your just asking a question. get the right answers and in case if anything ever goes cow poop you will know where you stand and remember that you are invincible and it will never happen to you; only others

Re: For all the Canadian guys...Crossing border with just a cab
im going to make all the calls Monday...ill have the seller mark for parts only on the receipt and possibly just remove the vin in the first place...makes it impossible to register..i had a cab for my 1951 and brought it in the same way..i don't think they have a category for just parts..the RIV guy had no idea...what do you think?

I would just say it is for parts and you are using the roof or whatever, don't screw with the vin till after the fact and when it comes to swapping cabs, moms the word.

Re: For all the Canadian guys...Crossing border with just a cab
Bill's brings in a lot of US trucks and sells the cabs and he must bring them all in as parts trucks so it must not be much of a problem except that he does it on a commercial scale. always watch what you say today. everything leaves a footprint

Just a follow up...the US BORDER does not require an export and the RIV needs nothing...I came across today no questions just paid tax...how sweet it is...enter one Alabama Cab

How much of the original cab must remain with the registered VIN plate.

Re: For all the Canadian guys...Crossing border with just a cab
When I called the US side..the officer said.."no frame or power train?" And I said cab shell only.. And he said no requirement here for export paper work...that's all I know...there was no talk of vin plates or anything...there was no title just a bill of sale. I came across at a port in Marine City Michigan. I have to be honest I have not even seen the vin on the cab yet.

Re: For all the Canadian guys...Crossing border with just a cab
When I worked in Canada one of the guys bought a bunch of new parts in the states. He removed all the boxes and paperwork and had them in his bed. Told the guy at the border they were just used parts. He got them in alright, but I'm not sure about the tax or duty.

Re: For all the Canadian guys...Crossing border with just a cab
its not too bad if your honest with them..i was just happy to find a great deal on an Alabama cab in very good condition(to me and most guys around here) and at a great price..I was surprised they didn't want to know about the vin. Me and my buddy are Firefighters and i think it helped
