'62 GMC longbed vs. shortbed?
Hey guys,
i have a '62 gmc flatbed that i am debating taking off the flatbed for regular fleet sides. how do i tell if if it is a longbed or shortbed? a certain measurement of the chassis maybe? any help is appreciated. also, any ideas on how to level up the front end? thought about cranking torsion bars but it seems to have coils up front

If it's the truck in your Avatar that looks like a 133" wheelbase.
127" wheelbase would be the correct wheelbase for a long box. 115" wheelbase for a short box.

any difference between the 133" and 127"? no difference when ordering long bed fleetsides?

Re: '62 GMC longbed vs. shortbed?
The long bed Fleetside only came on a 127" wheelbase frame. The 133 was cab & chassis or flatbed.

A 133" wheelbase also had an optional 9ft step side box.

Re: '62 GMC longbed vs. shortbed?
Wrecking yards. Chevy or GMC bed will work. You'll just need a GMC tail gate if you get the chevy bed.

Re: '62 GMC longbed vs. shortbed?
You could also just get an 8 foot fleet side and extend it to. Or a long bed stepside and extend that. Just depends on how much ya like fabricating.
