Re: Help finding gas tank 59 Chevy apache
fuel injection tanks are the expensive part.
In our trucks, the frame rails are too close together to use a conventional tank out of something as is. You might have to buy a tank that fits, then adapt it to a pump. You can also use the mustang tank, and on Ebay, buy a submersible pump for $20 or so, make a bracket for it that is anchored to the sender unit and then place the ring on the sender with a new o ring.

Re: Help finding gas tank 59 Chevy apache
i don't know about the year, but a return can be added to any tank pretty easily.

Re: Help finding gas tank 59 Chevy apache
I put a 01 camaro tank in my 55 second series. Had to trim the bottom of one rail. But I got away from having the bed filler. Plus I got a complete tank and a extra pump for 100
Theres a build thread on this page now.. |

Dave, interested in more info on this tank. Which build thread is it? Have you got a link to it? I see there's several build sections.

Dave,
Now I have questions. 1. Why did you take the original spring perches out if you put different ones back in same place? 2. Was that a long bed frame cut short? 3. is that a plastic tank? 4. Where are you going to put your exhaust?

Re: Help finding gas tank 59 Chevy apache
what advantage does the S 10 springs provide?
I had turn downs before, and they just made the tailgate dirty. (and everything from axle back).

Re: Help finding gas tank 59 Chevy apache
Thanks Dave. I've been into that thread several times but not lately. That Camaro tank deal looks like a winner.

Re: Help finding gas tank 59 Chevy apache
Another note. The gas tank will fit in if you dont trim the lt rail. I will just hang down further...
Also, I took the rear cross member out and spread the rails open a 1/8 inch a piece (1/4 inch total) And it really helps with fit! But you would have to ream out the holes for the bed to bolt on the rear... |
