3/4 axels vs 1/2
If you swap axles from a 3/4 ton to a half ton is it just a matter of bolt in? Brake lines, emergency brake cable, spring pads ... assuming its all from the same year truck?

I think the fronts are easier to swap. Because the front u-joint is still a 1310. In the rear you will need a conversion u-joint to go from (typically) 1310 or GM-3R (at TC) to a 1350 (at rear end). On my K5 with the CUCV 1 ton rear 14 bolt, it looks like the e-brake cables will work with the 1/2 ton stuff. The rear brake hose should work.

Going to replace the flat bed. 1985 K20, 350/400/208 10 bolt and SF 14 bolt. I wonder where I can find some 1 tons. Hmmmmm |

One more thing, a 1 ton rear will need spring perches and shock mounts relocated. Not the 3/4 ton though,

The 1 tons spring perches are at 40.5" apart, the 1/2 and 3/4 ton are 42.5" apart. Years would be between 73 and 87 (91 for blazer/burb/k30) Also, on the 1 tons the shocks are on the inside of the frame while the 1/2 and 3/4 tons mount on the outside of the frame and are staggered different.
