15 x 8 6-lug Wheels

This is a what it's worth thread for something I don't have for sale right now. Looks like people bumped the price of these wheels out of sight. When these were going for $100@ they were selling as fast as they were listed. Now that people are wanting over $400 for a set they are sitting like a museum piece. Maybe people shouldn't be so anxious to drive the prices of parts up so fast and be happy with the already inflated cost of parts for these trucks. If Wheel Vintiques starts making these they'll sell for less than what I see asked for these old wheels.

I just bought a bunch of these and I'm going to be in to them about 65 dollars each before clean up, paint or powder. That is at my max for buying these wheels.

Re: 15 x 8 6-lug Wheels

I think the primary driver of pricing on these wheels has been shipping. Someone can pay $150 to $200 to have a set of 4 shipped. If they bought the wheels for $300 and then decide to go another direction they will have $450 to $500 wrapped up in a set. Ad $200 to $250 for good sandblast/powder coat and you can get $750 and up in a set real fast. Can't wait till someone makes them.

A while back, I was looking for some, but most were gold plated. At least the sellers price led me to believe that. Then when you do find some, the seller is so cheap they they cant even cover paypal fees and want an additional 3%. I can't even count the parts I've given away or sold at rock bottom prices just to help out another car enthusiast. I am by no means rich, but I will never sell something and then also have the buyer pay any 'fees'

Re: 15 x 8 6-lug Wheels

I asked the reasonable going rate for mine, $100 each, and the cost of shipping didn't stop anyone from buying all of them right up. One CA member bought 5 wheels for his Blazer in two separate purchase/shipments. I also sold all my 6" 6-lug wheels that same month for the accepted going rate of $25 each. It took under a week to get the mortgage money, and then some, up.

I wasn't saying the cost of shipping keeps anyone from buying these wheels. But when the person that paid $160 to ship wheels purchased at $100 each he has an investment /value of $140 each in those $100 wheels. If he needs to sell he is naturally going to try and recoup his investment.
