Dust cover Manual Muncie M20 or M21 mid 70's 350 engine
Some crazy way my transmission dust cover came off during a night out and now I cannot find a replacement anywhere. I even purchased the TH350/400 but those are way too big as they are for automatic transmissions. I urgently require one if someone can point me in the right direction. It bewilders me that there are no flywheel covers for mid 70 Chevy manual transmissions.

Do you mean something like this.
Search for 'inspection plate' on their search box. http://www.4speedconversions.com/6263757-2 |

No unfortunately neither do I need that. It looks quite similar to the manual flywheel cover on an automatic Trans. The pic you showing I think is for the bell housing.

That cover is the same type as an auto tranny will have.
Find a pic for us. |

Sorry but it's not I bought the automatic cover TH350/400 even the guy at summit told me it wouldn't fit but I had to try. Problem is, there are many pics of the Automatic covers but I can't find any manual pic covers.

That was just an example.
You need to determine exactly what bellhousing you have. Then a pan can be found. You say m20 or m21. Do you have a Car type muncie or truck type with granny gear?. |

What I know is that it's in my 64 c10 and its 5.7 350 small block with m21 transmission 4 speed. What's a granny gear?

Likely called a 'granny' gear cause if you're in first, you're moving about as fast as granny can walkin'! Easy to spot as they have a shifter in the top of the tranny. Muncie's for cars have shifters on the side cover. Can you see the bellhousing number. You might need it. |

I'm not sure, but what I think he needs is the cover for the cast iron bellhousing like this one (that is missing) I know it's the one that I need

Jolobo, I wonder if this is the one needed? Weird it says V8. I don't see why there would be a difference

Re: Dust cover Manual Muncie M20 or M21 mid 70's 350 engine
FlameOut
I just spoke to them guess I got a guy who had a bad day but anyway he said the specs are about 7" between the two slots you see where the screws go and about 6" deep/width and between 16" and 18" long those specs after I measured seem to be the best option I have found so far. What about your specs? He clearly said its for any truck 55-72 as long as the transmission is not from much later model than 72. And he said from what I described it sounds like what we need. Worse case can always send it back. |

Re: Dust cover Manual Muncie M20 or M21 mid 70's 350 engine
It,s just a standard 12 inch trk clutch bellhousing. 60 to 72 and the older pass. cars used the same or simaler set up also. first pic is from the rear and second from the front. there are two pieces to the cover. a flat piece that the starter goes through and the pan on the bottom.

I like these bellhousings because you can change the clutch without removing the bellhousing or supporting the engine

Re: Dust cover Manual Muncie M20 or M21 mid 70's 350 engine
Can you? Never tried. I always bolt the pressure plate in a pattern that would require rotating the engine that way and removing the bell housing seems easier, as well as having it all opened up seems an easier for alignment. I also always install a new pilot bushing when doing a clutch

Thanks for those dimensions, Jolobo. I haven't measured mine, but sure sounds right. I went and ordered one so I'll know Monday if it's correct
