how do you take off a steering wheel?

I'm sorry if this is in the wrong thread but didn't know which one??
But can someone tell me how you take a steering wheel off? I have the wheel puller that came with 1/4x20 bolts that I'm guessing you're suppose to run those in to 1/4x20 holes inside the steering wheel?? My problem is I don't have the 1/4x20 bolts in my steering column.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
Joe

Re: how do you take off a steering wheel?

I saw a guy loosen the nut, put upward pressure on the wheel with his knees, and top the nut with a small hammer and it popped loose easily. Glad you figured it out.
