did I ruin the windshield?

I got the windshield out today and while trying to remove the weather stripping and all the gunk I decided to use thinner. After a few seconds I noticed that some of the glue from the weather stripping had worked its way between the two panes of glass. Right now it would be fine because new weather stripping would cover this. My concern is will the paint thinner continue to spread and work it's way further down?

Paint thinner tends to evaporate fairly quickly so it's likely you will be fine.

We were given two ears and one mouth for a reason... listen twice as much and speak half as often...

Re: did I ruin the windshield?

The problem would be moisture getting in between the layers and causing more delamination due to possible freezing and cooking in the sun. Minimum I would seal the edges with silicone. A windshield is only about $200 so you might want to consider that route also.

Re: did I ruin the windshield?

The new windshield fit just fine/. For I believe $225 i had the local shop come out and install it in my shop. At no extra cost he also installed my small back window slider. I was there for the whole process and very much appreciated not having to do it myself. I have the custom cab with the Chrome strip in the seal. Again I am very pleased and even though I did everything else on my truck this was a good one to farm out.

thats not bad. I figure when the time comes to put the glass back in I'll pay someone. I dont want to put all that effort into a cab just to have it leak.
