GVR on blue door VIN tag and HD Springs, help please

Curious what the front and rear weight ratings are for K5s equipped with heavy duty springs on the SPID. Can anyone help? Standard K5 is 3000 as shown. Need a new blue tag for the blue blazer and want to get it right.

Thanks, Pete

A bit off topic, but my GVWR for my 70 Blazer is 5000LBS, yet the actual weight is 4700LBS empty !! That means that all I can haul legally is my fat butt and a couple cases of beer.

Hey Pete - With HD front Springs my blue tag shows 3200. You can barely see it since mine has mostly rubbed off.

Those door labels sure did vary a lot. My '72 Blazer is totally different. Jeff eluded to as much when he reprinted mine. It was built in the fall of '71.

My '72 GVWR is 5600 lbs. Not sure what they changed between the years.

Pete my SPID doesn't list any option springs at all ( I can't find a picture of it at the moment ). This is the weights on my VIN. Production was 10 / 71 on the Door label.

Re: GVR on blue door VIN tag and HD Springs, help please

Here's my tag. 1970 with a may build date. I still don't understand why the GVWR is so low. Just doesn't make sense when the truck weighs 4700 LBS empty.

Fwiw I was just looking at the dealer model selector for 1972 and it shows 4wd k5s w possible GVW ratings of 4600 5200 and 5850 lbs. No option for HD rear springs only front.
