I am a proud noob and here is proof.
I am actually asking such a question! *But I'm so manly I can ask this and not be embarrassed.
I measured my spare wheel today and from outside edge to outside edge it was a bit over 16 inches. It was like 16.25 inches. 1). Is that how rims are measured? 2). Does that mean I have "16 inch wheels?" My dog dish hub cap I bought here a few months ago fit and it measured 10 & 3/8 inches inside rim to inside rim. |

The rim diameter is measured where the tire bead meets the rim. Check for stamp on the back mounting of the rim.

Ah ha! I bet I have 15 inch rims then.
Were most Custom 10's equipped with 15 inchers from the factory? |

Re: I am a proud noob and here is proof.
generally speaking, 5 or 6 lug are 15" and 8 lug are 16" or 16.5". When you see the 8 lugs side by side, it's easy to tell them apart - the 16.5 has a "curvier" lip, not an almost 90 deg step mounting surface like the 16". There are exceptions to this very general rule, but the exceptions are not common. And yes, C10s were 15" from the factory. 6 lug thru 1970, 5 lug after that until they changed back to 6 lug in the late 90's/2000=ish.
